MEET FOUNDER & HEAD CHEF OF SR DINING - STEVEN ROBERTS

Born & Bred in Bath Somerset, Steve Roberts brings flair, flavours and finesse to private catering for all occasions. A passion that started in early childhood and, with now over 18 years culinary experience, Steve created SR Dining where “food is the language that speaks to our senses and brings people together.” 

Steve trained over 18 years ago at Trowbridge College in Catering and Hospitality and on completion went to work as a Commis Chef at the leading global hospitality company, Hilton. The Hilton, Bath offered an exceptional opportunity to hone in his culinary skills in a dynamic and supportive environment, whilst being part of a team renowned for delivering world-class dining experiences, contributing to innovative menus that delighted guests from around the globe. Steve did not take this role for granted, after all, it provided the perfect platform to learn from seasoned professionals, master a wide range of cooking techniques, and develop his creativity in the kitchen.  With its culture of excellence and focus on quality, being a Commis Chef at Hilton was both a challenging and fulfilling experience.

Steve was then head hunted by the Olive Tree Bath, then a two AA Rosette Award winning restaurant, now Baths ONLY Michelin Star Restaurant! Being a chef at The Olive Tree in Bath was both an honour and a challenge, as it meant working in one of the city's most celebrated fine dining establishments. Nestled in the heart of this historic city, The Olive Tree is still to this day, known for its innovative yet approachable dishes that highlight the finest seasonal ingredients. As a chef here, creativity and precision went hand in hand, as every plate was a chance to craft an unforgettable dining experience. Collaborating with a passionate team in kitchen, the role required dedication, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence. It’s was an opportunity to not only refine culinary skills but also to contribute to a legacy of culinary artistry that leaves a lasting impression on guests. Whilst a chef at The Olive Tree, Steve alongside the Olive Tree Team ‘Best Restaurant of the Year in the Bath Life Awards Magazine.’

In his most recent years, Steve has celebrated food by working in various establishments from 17th century country public houses, prestigious Wiltshire Farm shops and garden centres as the Head Chef. In 2020, during the global pandemic, SR Dining was born. Steve craved the buzz of being in the kitchen and the connection that food brings to people! An idea turned into reality when deluxe desserts and grazing boards delivered to your door, turned into something rather special. Reconnecting with the heart of cooking- crafting meaningful, personalised meals.

Still as special as the day it was born, Steve is now an approved partner to some of the most beautiful homes and Air B’n’B’s around Wiltshire, Bath and Somerset providing the ‘private chef experience’ to those who hire. His private catering services include everything from intimate home private catering, life-celebration, weddings and corporate functions. With a number of talented chefs working within the SR Dining brand, Steve can offer a number of private catering services, on the same date so no-one has to miss out.
